Program: Delegated Slab Systems: Project Identification, Design and Delivery

Speaker: Jason Wimberly, High-Performance Concrete Lead / Lithko Contracting, LLC

Topic Description: Delegated design is becoming increasingly popular and is spreading into previously uncharted territory: concrete slabs on ground.  This is due to increasing demands in design and construction being driven by desires to build faster, more economical, and more environmentally friendly.  But these systems can add complexity and blurred lines of responsibility in the design and construction of the slab systems.  This presentation will provide attendees with a look into the world of the concrete contractor and their decision of when, which and how to select a delegated design system for proposal, the complexities involved in the collaboration of these systems with the design and construction team, and the importance of compliant execution in all phases of construction.

Speaker Bio: Jason Wimberly

Jason Wimberly is the High-Performance Concrete Lead for Lithko Contracting, LLC, the nation’s second largest concrete contractor and largest tilt contractor.  Jason is responsible for collaborating with each of Lithko’s 21+ BURGs to lead the company’s ability to sell and execute projects with high performance concrete components, both slabs on ground and structural elements.  Jason works with Lithko’s corporate leadership to identify new products and systems, leads the efforts to evaluate these opportunities, and coordinates with the BURGs to execute their implementation. In this role, Jason draws on his 20+ years of industry knowledge and experience as a concrete contractor, ready mixed concrete producer, design and consulting engineer, and technical and engineering manager for one of the world’s largest chemical admixture companies.

Mr. Wimberly holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.  He participates on multiple ACI committees including the ACI Membership Committee, ACI 302 – Construction of Concrete Floors, ACI 360 – Design of Slabs on Ground, ACI 363 – High Strength Concrete, ACI 522 – Pervious Concrete, and is the chairman of ACI 330 – Concrete Parking Lots and Site Paving.  Mr. Wimberly is recognized throughout North America for his research and development into high strength, high modulus and high-performance concrete mixtures that have been used in some of the most prestigious and high-profile projects to be constructed in the past decade, many of which grace the Miami, FL skyline.

Mr. Wimberly is a registered Professional Engineer in NC, SC, GA, AL, and VA.  In addition to spending time with his wife, two daughters, family, and friends, he enjoys “glamping” (traveling the US in his RV), real camping, hiking, backpacking and participating in his community through volunteering with his church and other non-profit groups.

*Walk-Ins will be charged $45.00.
